Redwood City

Redwood City is a community of just over 75,000 residents and is a city devoted to preserving its rich history while carefully planning for its future. This waterfront Bay Area city is the seat of San Mateo County and is a hot spot of revitalization that rivals Oakland in the East Bay. Covering a large swath of San Francisco Bay shoreline and reaching into the Santa Cruz Mountains, Redwood City covers diverse terrain and is a diverse and dynamic Bay Area city.

Downtown, the historic Redwood City Courthouse has been reborn as the new Redwood Courthouse Square, a revitalized and restored historic building amid landscaped grounds that acts as the centerpiece of Redwood City and plays host to community art and music events. Surrounded by shopping and restaurants, downtown Redwood City also features a new 20-theatre cinema and retail center. Fox Theatre is in the heart of downtown Redwood City and was inducted into the National Register of Historic Places. Since the theater's re-opening in 2010, downtown Redwood City has become one of the most happening entertainment spots between San Jose and San Francisco. There are over 100 events per year, and a night on the town is an excellent way to experience Redwood City.

When it comes to schooling, citizens will find that the best schools are up the hill above Alameda De Las Pulgas. Students attend elementary and middle schools within the Redwood City Elementary District and high schools within the San Mateo Union High School District. Many Redwood City high school-age students will attend Sequoia High School located near downtown Redwood City.
